ROUTE

Saturday morning we set off on the road on the  Bucharest – Targoviste – Rucar – Fundata route. 

We arrive at  the Fundata General School ,  from where we start the route descending for approx. 30 minutes on a forest road through Padina Lunga.  We admire the fairytale landscapes, around us we can see the peaks of the Piatra Craiului and Bucegi mountains and the traditional mountain houses are at every step. Next we cross the intersection with the asphalt road in Fundatica and we start the climb on the forest road.

The route continues along the river (Valea Cheii) for approx. 2 hours. On both sides of the road we will see large rock walls, dense fir forests and lofty peaks. We take photos, get to know each other better and enjoy the fresh air.

We arrive at the Uluce Cave ,  a place full of history and legends. It is said that this cave, also called the “uluces”, sheltered the outlaws who used to rob the boyars during their passage through the Rucar-Bran Corridor .  The old road connected Wallachia and Transylvania, goods and valuables were transported here, making it an ideal place for outlaws.

A stream also flows through the cave, entering under a rock in the village of Fundatica and traveling approximately 4 km underground.

We leave Uluce Cave behind and continue the route to the entrance to the Crovu Gorges where we have a lunch break. With fresh energy we set off again on the forest road towards Podu Dambovitei.

After about 2 hours of socializing and photographing nature, we arrive at the bus. We head towards Bucharest  on the direction of Fundata – Rucar – Targoviste,  where we will arrive around 9:00 PM .
