Do you long to reach a place with picturesque landscapes, where people still have a pastoral and archaic lifestyle? 

In January we do a winter route in the villages of Piatra Craiului. The houses are spread on the surrounding peaks and are located at an altitude of over 1000 m. A suitable trip for hiking lovers, but also for those looking for the peace of nature and fairy-tale landscapes in any season.

ROUTE

siRNA

In the morning we set off from  Bucharest  on the direction of Targoviste – Dragoslavele – Sirnea.  In case of a lot of snow, the bus will leave us at the intersection of the road with the village of Sirnea, where our route begins. We walk for two hours through the settlement at the foot of the Piatra Craiului Mountains , located at 1244 meters altitude, which hides treasures of the Romanian village life of yesteryear. In 1960, Sirnea was declared the first tourist village in Romania due to its breathtaking landscapes. Halfway through the village of Sirnea we leave on its right side. We climb to a peak from where we can admire the surroundings and take photos.

We leave the village, where we stop for half an hour and enjoy the food brought from home. With fresh energy we advance through a tunnel of snow-laden fir trees, after which we descend into a white valley. We continue the route that takes our steps through the fluffy carpet of omat. We reach a stream that we cross, to climb a steeper section of forest road for an hour and a half.

Cave

We exit at the border between Sirnea and the neighboring village of Pestera , near the Folea House. Here we will be enchanted by the beauty of the landscape; the road among simple and chic guesthouses, the lofty peaks of the Bucegi Mountains ,  Leaota ,  Postavarul , or the limestones  of Piatra Craiului .

Hillock

The next stop is in  the village of Magura , which is scattered on the hills, at an altitude of over 1,000 meters. It is as if torn apart by time and the world, and people intertwine the “gifts” of civilization with an archaic lifestyle. We discover a place with a lot of peace, clean air, which invites us to total relaxation for an hour. We descend on the route marked with red tape, on the road between the Zărnești Ravines and the Botorog Fountain.

Around 5 pm we reach the bus. If there is too much snow, however, we meet the bus at  Gura Raului , located 1.5 km away from the Botorog Fountain. Here we say goodbye to the mountain landscape and set off towards Bucharest on the Sinaia – Ploiesti route , where we arrive around 9:30 pm.
